Privacy Policy

PrivacyScan is subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and our own privacy policy in regard to the collection, use and disclosure of any personal information about an identifiable individual.

Our privacy policy follows the 10 Privacy Principles of the CSA Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information, which is a schedule to PIPEDA.

ACCOUNTABILITY
We are responsible for all personal information within our custody or control, including any personal information collected on our behalf by any other party or processed on our behalf by a third party. We will use appropriate means to protect any personal information processed by an agent on our behalf.

IDENTIFYING PURPOSES
We only collect personal information to provide services requested by clients or subscribers to our publications,and other related purposes (for example, subscription renewals, collection of payments, and user log-in information). We do not collect, use or disclose personal information for any non-related purposes. In responding to questions about privacy from members of the public, we only keep personal information long enough to respond to the question.

We only collect personal information with your knowledge and consent. Consent is typically implied when you order services or contact us. You may withdraw your consent to our collection or use of any personal information, subject to any contractual obligations.

LIMITING COLLECTION
We only collect the minimal amount of personal information required to provide services or respond to subscriber interests or public interests in information about privacy. We collect any such information fairly and transparently, and entirely with your informed consent.

LIMITING USE, DISCLOSURE, AND RETENTION
We only keep personal information as long as necessary to fulfill required purposes (for example, to maintain proper accounting records). We do not disclose your personal information to any other party, in any circumstances. Any personal information that is not required for legitimate business purposes is destroyed as soon as possible.

ACCURACY
We assume that personal information provided to us is as accurate as required for its intended purposes. If the information is not as accurate, complete and up-to-date as required for legitimate business purposes, we will contact you for clarification.

SAFEGUARDS
We take appropriate steps to protect your personal information, including effective office procedures, computer security features, and secure disposal of any personal information.

OPENNESS

You have a right of access to any personal information about yourself that is in our custody or control. You have a right to know how this information was collected, and how it is used or disclosed. If the information is inaccurate, you have a right to have it amended, or to have a note appended to the file regarding any disputed accuracy.

CHALLENGING COMPLIANCE
You have a right to challenge our compliance with our privacy policy or any requirement of PIPEDA.
